Credentials are receipts, not tickets

A degree is a receipt. It proves you paid — with money, with years, with obedience. We treat it like a ticket, as if it admits you to the income you want. It doesn't.

Receipts describe the past. The market only pays for the present: can you solve the problem in front of me, today?

I'm not anti-education. I'm anti-confusion. Learning compounds; credentials expire the moment everyone has one. When a signal becomes universal, it stops signalling.

Meanwhile, the highest-paid people you know are walking portfolios. They can point at things: I built that. I wrote that. I grew that. Proof of work beats proof of purchase.

The good news: proof of work is the one credential with no admissions office, no tuition, and no waiting list. You mint it yourself, in public, one shipped thing at a time.

The move this week: take something you already know and turn it into one public artifact — a teardown, a template, a tiny tool, a before-and-after. One is enough. Receipts sit in drawers. Proof compounds.
