Nobody is coming to pick you

You are still waiting to be chosen. The promotion, the invite, the reply from someone important — some signal from above that you're allowed to start.

Here is the uncomfortable arithmetic: the people you're waiting on are busy waiting on someone else. The queue is circular. There is no desk where permission gets stamped.

School trained the reflex. Raise your hand, wait to be called on, get graded, advance. Twenty years of that and 'waiting well' starts to feel like a work ethic.

It isn't. In the open market, waiting is just unpaid invisibility.

Every person you admire simply appointed themselves. They published before an editor blessed them. They sold before a boss promoted them. Picking yourself looks arrogant right up until it works — then everyone calls it obvious.

The move this week: pick one thing you've been waiting for approval on. Ship the smallest honest version of it in public — a post, a page, an offer, an invoice.

Notice that nothing collapses. Notice that the permission you were waiting for never arrives — because it was never coming. You had it the whole time.
